Former EY Global Vice Chair of Public Policy Beth Brooke Talks Opportunities for Inclusivity in the Workplace Post Pandemic

Former EY Global Vice Chair of Public Policy Beth Brooke Talks Opportunities for Inclusivity in the Workplace Post Pandemic True

Beth Brooke, Former Global Vice Chair of Public Policy for EY, begins the discussion by reflecting on the recent evolution in understanding from the business community on what it means to have a diverse and inclusive workplace.

In a conversation with Rebecca Ray, PhD, Executive Vice President of Human Capital at The Conference Board, Brooke shares her thoughts on how the pandemic has illustrated the vast differences in how people work and live.

Brooke adds that the convergence of the pandemic and the murder of George Floyd has revealed significant disparities in our society: “What wasn’t being said, but perhaps was being seen?” Brooke asks. She adds, “We each experience the pandemic differently. Some experienced it in a very privileged way, sitting comfortably on the sidelines, safe at home, but with tremendous guilt of not being able to do more. Others had no choice but to be out on frontlines [the essential workers]. It was the injustice of the disparities that is helping to propel the moment to look deeper.”

The CEO Forum series features CEOs from across American industry who focus on actionable insights to address underlying challenges of economic opportunity, childhood education, health care, workforce skills development, workplace equality and corporate governance.
